However, you may have misunderstood my last question.

Instead of simply parroting the party line, I maintain that it actually makes more sense for a person who advocates gun control to oppose “feel-good” measures that don’t actually do anything to control gun violence or decrease total violence.

Remember, the problem is not the number of people killed or injured with guns or the number of people that use a gun to commit suicide. The problem is the total number of people killed or injured in violent acts and the total number of people who end their own lives.

And that’s why I oppose the snake-oil remedies that pass for gun control these days.

I believe we should do better and the current level of discourse prevents it.
